Around V.I in a few minutes

Victoria Island - the location of quitessential up class Lagos, the location where most companies love to base their head offices. I went a snapping spree in a moving vehicle and caught as much as it would allow...

Nice planning but plenty holdups! The dude with the iphone is Chris, my art director. we always snap everytime we go on an outing, you just don't know when u'll catch something useful on camera.

Governor Fashola has been doing one heck of a job trying to beautify Lagos. This roundabout landscaping is one of such.

Lagos Taxi infront of this neat looking church with a strange name - 'Church of the assumption'

I just love the design on this building - 'Coconut Grove'. Makes you feel like u're in Hawai or somewhere like that.

This building may not be outstanding in architecture but you can't ignore the colors.

One of millinoaire Okoya's buildings (The man is always erecting massive structures) flanked by a police station.

Tetrazzini - an eatery that has been around for so long yet is not as popular as Mr. Biggs, Tantalizers, TFC, Chicken republic etc... and they offer you awoof tea in the mornings. 

Union Bank - the old fashioned bank with cute buildings. A successful and strong bank but I can never put a dime in there. No siree! Not me.

A refuse packer at work on VI. These guys dey make money oh! I heard of one that had succeeded in building a house and sent kids to school thru this business. Its not surprising since Naija is not a recycling nation. we generate waste like no man's business.

The beautiful civic centre flanked by 1004 complex (under renovation) at the edge of the lagoon. Sorry I couldnt get a closer and better shot. Car was moving too fast.

This sight horrifies me - Sandfilling of some parts of the lagoon in order to create more land! Why? With all the global warming thats happening, is this a smart thing to do? And I know that when you mess with nature the consequences can be drastic.

Parking Blooper

Question: What happens when you give a fresh car learner a car with automatic transmission as his first ride and allow him park in a car park that's next to a valley?

Answer: He keeps getting confused over which is the brake pedal and which is the gas pedal; and he keeps forgetting that 'R' stands for 'Reverse' and not 'Run' or race' and almost throws his ride in the valley!

The car got saved by a banana tree (Arrowed) that refused to be intimidated by the weight of a car. Behind the tree lies a deep creepy valley inhabited by monkeys, mosquitoes and God knows what

The Woes of 3rd Mainland Bridge Closure

With the closure of the 3rd mainland bridge (Africa's longest bridge), motorists have been forced to take alternative routes, causing terrible hold-ups on Ikorodu roads. 

 Only the BRT lanes are spared.

The Nigerian Child

Daystar Children's Church

I've been wanting to post this picture but I've procrastinated for sooo long over it. I finally decided by all means to put it up. It's the children's wing of my church (Daystar Christian Centre) after it was completed and about to be dedicated. It's fully airconditioned and has a lift. Cute architecture. 

The Quest For My Ride

Dateline – Friday 16th 2008

Mission – To get me a car
Location – Cotonou, on the edge of the border of the Republic of Benin.
The Crew – Segun (Close buddy), Patrick (The Car delivery expert) and my humble self.
Condition of the day – Rainy, wet, cloudy and cold.




Segun and yours truly in the Taxi we chattered from Iyana-Iba, near LASU



The Benin Expressway that led us to the Cotonou car yards. It was a far contrast from Naija roads.



Okada riders even had their own dedicated lanes!



Finally we got to the car yards. Endless sea of cars here and there.



We entered yards upon yards upon yards...



Segun saw an Acura Legend which one of his friends needed and checked it out.



There was also a Lexus E300 Segun wanted to check out.



We had gone round for hours and I hadn't found the ride I was looking for. I was almost giving up. I muttered a prayer to God for help and direction...



...then I saw her! The ride that I had been looking for. It was just 3 cars away from where I stood. I called Segun and Patrick immediately.



She's a Nissan Primera, european version. And the actual spec I had been looking for.





The interior was neat (apart from dirt foot area caused by feet that had walked thru the rain soaked grounds) The car had all I wanted.



The seats were soft and comfortable to sit in. They kinda carressed you.



As if God wanted to assure me that this was the car, I got it at a good bargain!

Now what was left was for Patrick to clear the papers and deliver her to me by wednesday.

Got home so frigging tired and did a personal thanksgiving to the almighty.
